Beginner's Bonsai Design Class (Single session) This class covers how to design, repot, prune and wire a basic nursery stock juniper into a starter bonsai-in-training.The class is hands-on and under the guidance of our bonsai expert.

Beginners' carving class (at the nursery) Bonsai Mujo is offering a  2.5 hour beginners' carving class (minumum 4 participants per group).This hands-on workshop introduces safe and effective techniques developed to transform ugly trunk cuts into attractive natural-looking features.The "minimal carving" approach is adopted in this workshop. No carving experience is necessary.

  • Program:What is deadwood creation (includes pictorial presentation)
  • Presentation of tools and techniques
  • Demonstration
  • Carving advice on ONE of your trees (design and technique, no carving performed).
  • Handout provided.​

Arrtival of quality pots, tools and wire

 

A shipment of handcrafted Yixing pots has arrived at Bonsai Mujo! Hundreds of high quality pots are now available in a wide range of sizes and shapes at the nursery. A range of quality tools and wire (aluminium, gauges 1 to 7mm, in 100g, 500g and 1kg rolls) are also available.

Japanese master at Bonsai Mujo

 

Yusuke Uchida is a young bonsai expert from Japan who apprenticed under Mr Junichiro Tanaka at Aichi-en in Nagoya. He has been travelling around Australia on a bonsai-working holiday. We are fortunate to have him with us at Bonsai Mujo this Sunday, 10 Nov 2013.

 

The event is in two parts:

 

  • 2.00 to about 3.00: Bonsai presentation by Yusuke (no fix price, pay what you think is fair).

 

  • 3.00 to about 5.00: Workshop. Yusuke will work with you on the design of your tree ($40 per person). Workshop observers are welcome ($5 per person).
