Autumn Fundamentals

The class starts at 10.00am and goes to about 1.00-1.15pm (Cost: $85)

Autumn is a significant season in the bonsai calendar. What we do to our bonsai during this season brings together all the work our bonsai trees have done prior to autumn, and helps prepare them for winter dormancy and, importantly, for spring growth.

Understand what is going on in our bonsai during autumn, and learn the fundamental techniques we need to apply to our bonsai this coming autumn. This applies to both evergreen and deciduous conifers and broadleaf trees.

The cost includes:

  • Advice and assessment of participants’ trees, so please bring along your trees (limit 2 per participant);

  • A question/response session, so please come armed with questions;

  • A short demonstration of the various aspects of maintaining your evergreen/deciduous bonsai during autumn; and

  • A hands-on experience of how to undertake certain pruning techniques related to various species of trees.

On the day itself, the nursery will give you a discount for any purchases of trees, tools, pots, wire, potting media and other accessories.

Tea, coffee and refreshments will be provided during the session.

Please register your interest via email to me or sms/telephone 0422 380 009.

Beginners Bonsai Design Class

The class starts at 10.00am and goes to about 3.30-4.00pm. The end time will depend on the size of the class.

Style a tree and take it home (Cost: $225)

The cost includes a detailed set of printed notes written by K Rodrigues, a tree to style on the day and to take home, aluminum wires for training the tree during the workshop, and a special pre-mix potting media for optional repotting of the tree on the day, if the student wants to.

The repotting is made optional since the student will need to purchase the pot from the nursery on the day itself. As the choice of the pot will take into account the style of the tree, I prefer not to include it as part of the cost.

On the day itself, the nursery will give you a discount for any extra purchases of tools, pots, wire and other accessories.

Tea, coffee and lunch will be provided during the day's workshop.

Please register your interest via email to me or sms/telephone 0422 380 009.
